Dear Scouting families and supporters,

As part of the conditions to the National lawsuit, the Mount Baker Council agreed to sell our Council office located in Everett, WA, and use the proceeds to fulfill our settlement commitments.

After careful negotiations, we are announcing that the Everett Service Center has been sold, and we will be relocating our operations. This is an exciting, yet scary, time and we expect there to be many questions. Here is what you can expect:

• Council Service Center and Trading Post
  • The physical location will cease operations on February 14, 2025
  • Office and staff phone numbers will stay the same
• Office Clean-out
  • Final clean-out of the office will happen from February 18th through February 27th
    • Please note the office will be closed to all visitors during this time
• Council Staff Operations
  • Council Staff will be performing their duties remotely from their respective homes
• Committee Meetings
  • Committee meetings which were traditionally held at the Everett Service Center will need to transition to online or find an alternate in-person location
    • The choice of how to move forward is up to the Committee
    • Andy Manson, District Executive, will be available to help facilitate transitioning these meetings
• Paperwork Submission Process
  • Eagle Scout Applications
    • Email completed Eagle Scout applications to Colin Roach at [email protected]
  • Look for additional communications regarding other paperwork submissions.
• Trading Post Operations
  • The Trading Post will become an online-only service
    • Access the online store by visiting MountBakerScouting.org and selecting Shop from the top menu
    • Purchases through the Trading Post will be shipped to the address provided
      • There will be no pick-up option
      • There will be no District Director/Executive delivery option
    • Bulk orders for books, pinewood derby cars, or other large or bulky items may be best purchased through ScoutShop.org. They may offer more affordable shipping rates on large item, bulk purchases
  • We ask that you allow extra time for orders submitted between February 18th and February 27th, as the Trading Post is moving merchandise and setting up new operations. Processing time for orders are expected to take between 10 and 14 business days during this time
    • We encourage Blue and Gold orders, Court of Honor orders, or other time sensitive orders to be placed as soon as convenient to facilitate timely delivery
  • Once the move is complete, we expect that online orders will go back to their normal 3 business day processing time.

Council staff will operate virtually, and the Trading Post will remain online-only for an indefinite period as we carefully explore the best options to meet the needs of our volunteers, and Scouting families.

The Council Site Selection Committee has been diligently researching locations and operational needs to ensure a fiscally responsible choice. Our goal is to identify the best long-term solution to serve current and future Scouting families. For now, transitioning to virtual operations and leveraging online resources is the most prudent path forward.

Your patience and support during this transition is appreciated. As always, the Council values your feedback. We understand that changes like this might feel overwhelming and are dedicated to doing our best to make the transition and subsequent “normal operations” as seamless as possible.

This transition is an exciting opportunity for the Council to evaluate our current processes and look into the systems, location, and services that will most benefit the current and future Scouting Community across the Council.
